DEVELOPMENT OF CENTRAL QUAD AREA

The college has a small central quad area accessed from the school hall and canteen (photographed above). This area can only be used during periods of dry weather as it becomes muddy and slippery. It is our desire to enhance the quality of this green space to make it an area where the students can eat, talk and relax during break and lunchtimes. It has much potential as it is totally protected by the buildings from intruders and vandalism. We wish to action a planting scheme to improve the aesthetics of the area that will include some fruit trees, bulbs and other relatively low maintenance/hardy plants. To purchase high quality seating from sustainable sources and improve the drainage below the seating pods so that they can be accessed and used during clear dry winter and autumn days. We want to provide some storage facility for gardening tools etc in the area. The college is in the process of developing the canteen. This garden development project will have the added benefit in extending student study facilities. This forms part of our whole college drive to bring environmental education to the students educating them for life in the fullest and widest sense.

Thank you to Kimptons for their support with development work in the College Dining Room.
